LOCATION
We are currently hiring for this position in Pleasanton, CA.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policy and procedure. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits as necessary and providing information to external auditors for the annual audit. Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; and recommending plans. Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzes variances, and initiates corrective actions.
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data monthly, quarterly, and annually. Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation. Anticipates future legislation and enforces adherence to requirements.
- Responsible for filing financial reports.
- Advises management on needed actions.
- Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
- Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Maintains staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Plans, monitors, and appraises job results utilizing Objective & Key Result methodology. Maintains professional and technical accounting knowledge by attending educational workshops.
- Reviews professional publications. Establishes personal networks and participates in professional societies. Oversees month-end and year-end accounting close procedures, including maintenance of close calendar, and generates financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Collaborates with FP&A to generate both short- and long-range financial forecasts using planning software, including annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
- Analyzes revenues and expenses to ensure proper recorded on a monthly basis.
- Manages financial and tax audits. Manages the preparation of tax returns and corporate tax reporting requirements with the Company’s tax services provider.
- Assists in design, implementation, documentation and monitoring of internal controls, policies, procedures and workflow.
- The position requires domestic travel up to 24% of the time for meetings with hospital customers and sales teams, inventory observation visits, and industry conferences and events.
- 5 direct reports: Sr. Accountant, AR Accountant, Sr. AP Specialist, Cost Accountant, and Staff Accountant. Between 3-4 more direct reports in the future.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field plus 4 years of experience. Employer will accept a combination of degrees or diplomas as meeting the bachelor’s degree requirement.
- Must possess 4 years of experience with:
- (a) Financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
- (b) Management of full range of transactions and financial operating procedures wherein management of end-to-end financial operations within a corporate environment include: accounts payable and receivable, general ledger management, bank reconciliations and cash flow management, expense reporting and budget control, and internal controls and compliance
- (c) Financial data analysis: trend analysis, variance analysis, forecasting and planning, performance dashboards, and data visualization; (d) strong knowledge in economic and banking processes which includes both macro and micro level knowledge that informs financial decisions and strategy, banking operations, and regulatory and compliance knowledge
- (e) Working with external audit and tax professionals; and (f) utilizing NetSuite (ERP), and payroll software
